Turks and Caicos | May 2019

Turks and Caicos (where we vacationed)

As far as best beaches in the world, Turks and Caicos (Grace Bay) is high on the list with its wide, pristine white stretches of sand and calm, crystal clear, pale turquoise water. It's a small dry island filled with exotic flowers and the scent of grilled seafood and ocean fish in the air. We chose Seven Stars Resort and Spa for the second time and the quality and service lived up to their Five Star rating. The best part is the location of the resort as it's a short walk to the grocery store where you can pick up snacks, beverages and other supplies for your stay.

Where we Ate

Coco Bistro - is a jungle themed restaurant that is situated outdoors under large exotic trees. Its cuisine is suitable for fancier food lovers but it was a bit overpriced for our liking. The food will delight your palate if you're looking for innovative caribbean flavors.

Mango Reef - is located on a dock where you're surrounded by small fancy boats and exotic island birds. The food is very good and you have great choices to get a true taste of the island. We ordered tenderloin and grilled shrimp and the red snapper with curry.

Seven Stars Resort & Spa (buffet breakfast) - hands down this is the best breakfast buffet I've ever had on any caribbean trip. They offer seasonal island delights daily and the made-to-order eggs were cooked to perfection. If you stay at Seven Stars the breakfast is included, as is bottled/purified water.

What to do on Grace Bay Beach

Although some visitors rent a car and drive around the island to get a feel for it, we decided to lay low and relax on the beach. We did bike to a few other resorts to compare notes and get some exercise. If you're a diver or like to fish this is a great destination for these activities. In the end, Turks and Caicos is a quiet, mature place for a more refined and discerning clientele to be bored and relax for a week.

Travel: Packing light is best for a 5 day Carribean trip and here are some items I used on our trip. Women tend to overpack for a vacation that requires minimum items.
