Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen is a small, clean city that has a well orchestrated bike culture. The air is cleaner than any city I've visited and it's easy to navigate on foot. We covered the hottest neighborhoods on the map in 2 days and were able to stop and eat their famous open face sandwiches called (smorrebrod). The city is also rich in eye candy, as there seemed to be a never ending amount of good looking locals that dressed impeccably chic.

Where we ate

Mad & Kaffe is located in the coolest neighborhood called Vesterbro and this hip eatery has the most sought after brunch in Copenhagen. The brunch options were picture perfect and absolutely delicious.

Host restaurant is the top spot if you're looking for a 5 course meal that easily turned into 8 courses with surprises added to each segment. The food was presented beautifully and the flavors were well balanced and memorable. The highlight for us were the desserts especially the air light ice cream which was super. Make sure to reserve a seat.

Det Lille Aoptek is the oldest traditional restaurant in Copenhagen. Stop by this staple for authentic Danish dishes that are rustic and reasonably priced.

Phoenix Copenhagen Hotel

Phoenix Copenhagen is ideally located in the center and is within walking distance to the canal and other attractions. The rooms are small, quaint and well appointed. In the morning the buffet breakfast is filled with delightful Danish delectables.

Street hiking

Besides exploring on foot, we also opted for a 3 hour guided bike tour with Copenhagen Fairy Tales. Bike touring is the best way to see the streets of Copenhagen and get a good sniff of what it has to offer. Rosenberg Castle, Amalienborg Palace, Little Mermaid and the Round Tower were some of the historical highlights. Let's not forget the excursion through the neighborhood of Christiania, an autonomous commune founded by hippies and squatters.
